Halloween Pictures - Party #1

These pictures are from Halloween Party #1. We are going to another one Monday night. Devlon and his best friend Eric were gynos (shout out to Gwen!). Notice the mustache, which I thought completed the outfit very well! I kept telling them they needed to carry blow-pops to give out to girls....well, Eric could have given them out, not Devlon!

I was a trucker's girl.....complete with the teeth and all! You can't see my shirt very well, but it says "Truckers have Big Rigs" with a huge picture of a Rig. Found the shirt in OK a year or so ago for $2! OK can always come through in a pinch when you need white trash clothes! Devlon's twin brother Ryan was dressed in retro 70's clothes......he is in the pic of me with my wonderful teeth! I told Devlon he is lucky I have dental insurance! We had a great time!

For party #2 I am sticking with the same costume, but Devlon and Eric are going as Fred & Barney. I looked for a Wilma costume to no avail!

Halloween Weekend!

Happy Halloween to all!

Lots of parties planned! For those that know me well, you can probably imagine that Halloween is not for me! All of the extroverted activities give me a tummy ache! Nonetheless, I am venturing out for a few parties this year. Tomorrow night we are going to Devlon's brother's girlfriend's (is that all correct?) house and then to some of my friends in Fort Worth. Another big party Monday night at Eric's........which is one of Devlon's best friends. Fun times!

I won't reveal my costume just yet, look for pictures on Sunday or Monday!

Counting down the days until VEGAS....only 5 days to go (I fly out next Thursday!). I am hoping to win some cash! Everyone send good thoughts to the slots and tables!

At the Aquarium

Corpus Christi Bay

Weekend Report

So here is a quick recap of this weekend's festivities.
Thursday:
Devlon and I left Thursday afternoon to make the 7 hour drive to Corpus Christi. One of his best friends (Ed & Karin) who got married in June in Minnesota (Devlon was a groomsmen) had a local reception in Corpus that his parents arranged. We had a great time! Thursday night was spent meeting his friends and relaxing with a few beers. We then made the trek to his friend Kevin's house where we were spending the night.
Friday:
We got up and met some of Ed & Karin's family for a GREAT mexican breakfast and then headed to the aquarium. I have been there once or twice as a kid, but it was fun to go back. Being down near the water brought back memories of family vacations! We then had a huge BBQ with GREAT food (yummy shrimp right off the boat) along with more beer (see a theme here?). It was this night that I met more friends and family who are very important to Devlon. It was great to put faces to names.
Saturday:
Slept in, another GREAT mexican breakfast and then the boys took a nap. The girls went shopping and then saw Elizabethtown. Interesting and not what I expected, but good lessons! Then we got ready for the reception and had fun at Doc's visiting with friends, eating good food, and enjoying the sunset on the water. Then we went dancing and let me say........MY I SUCK at dancing! I have never been good at it and Devlon was patient with me. I guess I need more practice.
Sunday:
We got up early and hit the road to SA. We stopped for a few hours and had lunch with my parents, Meemaw, Nana, Uncle Kirk & Aunt DiAnn. It was the first time Devlon met Aunt DiAnn and Uncle Kirk......it didn't take long for the hunting talk to start! We had a great visit and Uncle Kirk sent us off with venison which made Devlon very happy! He has already defrosted the backstrap to grill this week. Thanks Uncle Kirk! Also, thanks Mom and Dad for the great food! Then we headed back to the big D!

Whew....I was tired doing it all but more tired recapping it! :)

State Fair Fun!

So Wednesday night I went to the State Fair with some girls from work! How can you beat $1 admission with 3 cans of food? Highlights of the night included:
-corn dogs
-fried peanut butter, jelly and banana sandwiches
-tornado taters
-the car show (see Susan in the H2!)
-the TXU light and laser show
-the parade!
-"Half of Mexico" (according to the parking attendant) there for the soccer finals
-seeing my "all natural" friend Natalie trying to find something to eat that was wheat & gluten free
-WALKING all over the place
-kids faces on scary rides
-potbellied pigs
-fun times with the girls!!

Heading to Corpus Christi tomorrow for a wedding reception with Devlon. I will miss Brooke and Becca's birthday fiesta in Oklahoma.....I am so sad! They will have tons of family there to celebrate, so hopefully going up another weekend will give me good time with the Dustmans!
Peace out!

Bethany's T-Shirt Quilt

This is a t-shirt quilt that was made out of Bethany's old UNT college shirts.....mostly swimming shirts I think. Melissa helped us........a lady in Oklahoma did her A&M quilt so she took the shirts for us. It is totally cute! Next.....all my high school shirts in a quilt! Wouldn't that be fun? Thanks Mel!

Way to go Larry!

We went last night to Standard & Pours to hear LG play a few ditties. Great stuff as always......It makes me think, if he can sing/write as well as he does, and he is family....then how did I escape any kind of talent for music? I mean, I played the saxophone all through middle and high school, but MAN, I wish I could sing!

Oh well, he got the talent which is probably better in the long run! He is great on stage with a guitar and a mic.....

It was Devlon's first time to hear LG sing and he was impressed. After the show Devlon got to meet Fat Pants....I have been talking about him for a while because I think that Fat Pants (ie: Coolio) and Pearl (Devlon's cat) could be boyfriend and girlfriend. Fat Pants was his usual social self and showed off his tricks. We were impressed....now he needs to use that stuff when he meets Pearl!! :)

10 Points

Got these in an e-mail from my dad yesterday.....always good reminders!

10 Points of Advice

1. Never lose sight of the ultimate goal. Focus energy on short-term objectives.

2. Set a personal example with visible, memorable symbols and behavior.

3. Instill optimism and self-confidence, but stay grounded in reality.

4. Take care of yourself. Maintain stamina and let go of guilt.

5. Reinforce the team message constantly. We are one--we live or die together.

6. Minimize status differences and insist on courtesy and mutual respect.

7. Master conflict. Deal with anger in small doses, engage dissidents, and avoid needless power struggles.

8. Find something to celebrate and something to laugh about.

9. Be willing to take the big risk.

10. Never give up...there's always another move.

Say WHAT!??

So I FINALLY took my car in after about a month of my engine "surging". It hasn't been so bad, actually didn't happen every day, but on Friday it actually died between surges. So, I was just under my 75,000 miles, hoping whatever was wrong could potentially be covered under my extended warranty.

I took it in Saturday and have been using Devlon's car since he is out of town. The service dept. called today with the following news:

Robbie the Service Advisor: Hi Tracy, I have some news about your car
Me: Ok, go ahead
Robbie: We hooked it up and tested it and it appears your intake manifold gasket is releasing too much air into the engine
Me: I see
Robbie: The gasket regulates the air that brings air into your engine and then releases it, your is leaking too much air
Me: Ok, how much does it cost to fix it?
Robbie: $695
Me: choking back tears
Robbie: And I checked into your extended warranty. Normally this is covered, but it seems your warranty was one of those that either expired on a certain date or at 75,000 miles
Me: Ok, when was the date it expired?
Robbie: Oct. 3rd of this year
Me: You mean like 7 days ago?
Robbie: Yes Ma'am
Me: (kicking myself in the ass for not taking it in when the problem started) Ok, I need to call my dad (because I always call my Dad in times of emergencies, which this definitely was!)

Dad advised me to fix it, I mean how could I not? So the long and short of it, my car is now fixed and I am $715.98 poorer. SUCKS! Chalk it up to lesson learned I guess, but I can't help but be pissed at myself.....at least until I write the check and the money clears my account!

This car owning, mortgage paying, job going adult nonsense is for the birds! To make matters worse, I am due for an oil change, should probably rotate my tires, and my registration is due this month! Does it ever end?

On second thought, I should be happy that I actually have the money to pay, I have a job, I can afford a mortgage, and I have parents that listen to me complain and still love me!

Happy Birthday Treasure!

Happy Birthday to my friend Treasure!

I tried to post this yesterday (on her actual birthday), but the blogging system was down for maintenance. So here it is, a day late but with good intentions nonetheless. We are heading to a Roger Creager concert tonight to celebrate! We got a nice coldfront, so the weather should be cool and the music will be wonderful!!

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

Saturday began the celebration of "Treasure's Birthday Week".

To celebrate my friend Treasure, we spent Saturday watching A&M beat Baylor, then headed to Ameriquest Field for dinner at the Ballpark and then a Rangers game. Fun times, even though the Rangers lost! Sunday we brunched at Breadwinner's in Inwood Village....we were a bit out of place as this is a hoity toity place, but GREAT Sunday Brunch!

More to come this week on Treasure's Birthday!!!
