Our son

Our beautiful boy joined our family on Tuesday, November 27th at 7:54am. He weighed 8lbs 14.3oz and was 21.1 inches long. My OB elected for a C-section because they were estimating his weight to be 9lbs15oz. He had a strong cry when they pulled him out and he had a head full of hair. He was taken to NICU for 24 hours because he needed some oxygen support and had some fluid in his lungs. My OB had prepared me for this.....I guess it is common in C-section deliveries. He moved from NICU to a special care nursery and was able to come home with us on Friday. We have been home for a while now, trying to get adjusted to a routine.

Breastfeeding is going MUCH better, but is was difficult at first with lots of tears on my part. At his 1 week check-up, he was almost back to his birthweight at 8lbs 12oz. We go back to the pediatrician on Friday Dec 14th at 9:45 and I suspect he is past his birthweight now. He is up about every 3-3.5 hours to eat. Other than that he LOVES to be held. We are having a hard time not spoiling him.

We have been so blessed with family and friends who have made this transition easier.....and who have offered support by sending food, gifts and flowers. We are in awe of this little man and can't believe he is here and we are officially parents. WOW. God is good.

He looks so sweet! I can't wait to meet him! I know the first month is hard but just remember- you are the mommy, you know what is best for him. Take bits and pieces from what you hear, what you read, and what people tell you. Do what works best for your baby and your family. What worked for someone else may not work for you and that is OK. Trust your mommy instincts and know that you will do a wonderful job!
